Camp Lone Cloud Island
PROGRAMS

Scouts Canada, Halifax Region offers youth aged 8-15 years old an opportunity to experience an active outdoor program in a residential camp setting. The camp is open to all youth, some have been in cubs or scouts, but many simply enjoy camping on the island. The newly renovated camp is located only 20 minutes from downtown Halifax and just minutes from Bedford, Sackville and Dartmouth. The new cabins are built on the shores of Miller Lake and can accommodate about 60 younger youth and about 30 older youth during each weekly camp.

Camp Lone Cloud is accessible only by boat; this provides a safe, secure and adventurous environment for the youth. The Clipper transports our campers and staff to the mainland. Our summer program centers around waterfront activities, the appreciation of nature, camping, crafts, songs and wide games.

Younger youth (8-11 years old) learn new skills, and have a great time canoeing, going on out-trips, swimming, playing team games, making crafts and performing skits at our campfires. A younger youth program introduces the campers to outdoor activities only available in a residential camp. They will be accommodated in recently constructed cabins designed to give a total camping experience for a six-night stay on the island. Up to 10 youth, one counselor and one counselor-in-training stay in each cabin.

Older youth (12-15 years old) learn leadership skills and team building while having fun in all waterfront activities and camping in the wilderness. They will be accommodated in tents while on the mainland and cabins during their stay on Camp Lone Cloud. The youth will develop their outdoor awareness and challenge their limits during their 10 day stay.

The Camp Director and staff have developed a program that will give each camper an enjoyable stay on the island. Most staff members at Camp Lone Cloud have a scouting background and have received training in First Aid, swimming, canoeing, wilderness camping and youth programming.
